9 Fun Beach Games for Everyone 2023: Families, Teens, Adults, & More
Everybody loves a beach getaway. Whether you're going away with your family or taking a break from your college classes for spring break, there’s nothing better than soaking up some vitamin D and taking a dip in the ocean with the people that matter to you.
That being said, reading a book in a beach chair or taking a stroll down the sand can get a bit boring if you’re spending a long while at the beach.
Here’s some fun beach game ideas for all ages, whether you’re beaching it with kids, teens, or adults.
Fun Beach Games for Kids, Teens, & Adults
If you love corn hole but don’t feel like schlepping your boards down the boardwalk and across the sand, TOSS IT! is the ideal beach activity for you. TOSS IT! comes with a mat and 28 mini sand toss bags in a water-proof bag, and unlike cornhole, you have 8 gameplay options to keep things interesting.
Portable. Simple. Fun. This is the best beach game around. But don’t just take it from us. Beach lover, Griffin B, had this to say in his 5-star review: “Toss It is a great family-friendly game! With many different ways to play, you can never get bored! I would absolutely recommend Toss It to all!”
Now that we’ve given you our two-minute pitch, here’s some other fun beach game options for adults and children alike.
As long as your go-to beach has a net (or you opt to get your own portable one) volleyball is a cost-effective and fun way to burn some calories in the sand. Depending on how big your beach crew is, you can play 2 vs. 2, 3 vs. 3, and so on up to 6 players on each side.
This neighborhood classic is well suited for the beach too. For between $15-40 (depending on how large the set is that you purchase) this is a great beach game for kids and can be fun for teens and college students too.
Keep in mind, this is a game you’ll want to have a lot of space for so you have enough room to send the Wiffle ball flying and space out the bases to make for a full-sized game.
4. Spike Ball
This outdoor game is all the rage on the beach and beyond. With two teams of two, you’re essentially playing a miniature volleyball game with a net on the ground.
Here’s the rules as explained by Spikeball itself, “A player starts a point by serving the ball down onto the Spikeball net so it ricochets up at his opponents. The returning team has up to 3 hits between them (think bump, set, spike) to return the ball back onto the net. The rally continues until a team can't return the ball onto the net within their three touches.”

Top Block is another easy to transport and fun outdoor beach game for kids and adults alike. As the name suggests, you and your competitor(s) - the game can be 1v1 or 2v2 - are each tossing bags at a stack of blocks with the goal of knocking just the top block off.
“The fewer blocks you knock off of the tower, the more points you get!”

6. Card Games
While playing cards might not be traditionally seen as a beach game, they certainly can be. Consider games like go fish or snap if you’re playing with kids, or make drinking a bit more fun with your college buddies by playing a round of “Kings,” or also known as “Ring of Fire,” on spring break.
The beauty of cards, just like TOSS IT! and the other beach activities referenced, is that they’re easy to transport to and from the beach.
7. Tower Ball
Tower Ball is another portable outdoor game that’s well suited for your beach adventure. A collapsible pyramid shaped tower comes with a series of different sized holes on each of its four sides. You’re given 8 hacky-sack shaped balls, and walk around the tower with your competitors with the simple goal of getting the ball in the hole! Side 1 is easiest, so it’s 1 point per ball you get in. As the holes shrink on each Side, you get more points for making it in (2 points on Side 2, 3 points on Side 3, and 4 points on Side 4.)

Hunnyball is an ultra-competitive 2v2 beach game. Essentially, a server starts the game by tossing the ball at a Hunnyball board. Once the ball makes contact, the other team rallies by catching the ball and tossing it back and forth up to two times before taking another shot at the board. Once the ball hits the board and the competitor fails to catch it, a player fails to make contact when shooting at the board, or the ball goes out of bounds after hitting the board, the rally is over.
